Swapping sprockets on the desert sled

So at just 1,500 miles I figured my chain was fine when I dropped 3 teeth on the rear sprocket, there are no visible wear so I reused it. But I noticed a subtle vibration at cruising speeds. I awapped in a new gold chain for looks and longevity, and just like that, the smooth ride is restored

It's strange, but I didn't face any problems with my OEM chain after I replaced the rear sprocket when my bike had about 5,000 miles on it.

That's interesting, maybe it just depends on how the chain settles in..I am glad to hear your OEM setup worked fine, though. I guess every bike and riding style is a bit different

The chain seemed fine, but those little signs were enough to cause a bigger issue down the road well its good to hear the new chain did the trick, though, yunno at at times, it feels like you're just chasing perfection with bikes, and even a small change can bring everything back to where it should be.

Happy the aftermarket worked fine for you eventually too, though. Sorry to jump into the discussion. I'm all about aftermarket options but I make sure to be careful because I don't wanna mess things up or something.

Good call on changing the chain. Even if it hasn't been used much, mixing old chains with new sprockets can change how it feels. I alwayss replace them together,a new setup really helps
